Art Experience

Lion King Jr.

2017

In 2017, as a junior at Cardinal O'Hara high school, I returned to my alma mater, St. Pius X, as a volunteer to build & design costumes pieces, sets, and signage. I also painted a few faces! This experience draws on my flexibility & range of expertise.

Honors Art, Cardinal O'Hara High School

2015-2018

My entire high school experience revolved around my love & involvement in the arts. Besides performing ensemble in a few shows and singing in the choir, I was deeply dedicated to my honors art class. I had the same, brilliantly wonderful teacher from freshman to senior year, and I feel lucky to have internalized so much artistic knowledge then that still benefits me today.

Improv Comedy Club President, West Chester University

2018-2022

In 2018, I auditioned for my college's improv comedy troupe, Deep Dish Pizzazz! I was added as a featured member for the semester, fell in love with it, and reauditioned the following semester, securing a permanent spot on this very fun comedy team. I was then elected as Public Relations Manager, running all our social media accounts, creating flyers & hosting events. In my junior year, I was elected as President, where I served as a leader: hosting & faciliating all events, outreaching & auditioning new members, and building trust & community within a team of dedicated young adults. It was also rather funny!

This experience is worth highlighting because learning the art of improvisation benefits me every time I'm in the classroom. I'm flexible, creative and quick-thinking, communicative while being an active listener, and an overall good teammate.

Ceramics

2018-2022

"Students in Studio Art are provided with a comprehensive program in visual literacy, creative problem-solving, cultural awareness, critical thinking, and creative processes. Students acquire knowledge, comprehension, and competency in the visual arts using traditional and new technologies. While students may choose to specialize in a specific medium, the program also encourages cross-pollination between various media and experimentation with innovative practices. The program includes a strong foundation in drawing, 2D and 3D design, color theory, and art history, with a broad range of upper-level courses in paintings, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking."

Heather Sharpe, Chairperson of the Dept. of Art and Design, WCU
